I was 22, working 60 hours a week
with my ex girl, in a car, out on the street
Could only afford junk, two mouths i would feed
If i had access to a shower, id shower & sleep
i knew perfectly well i was certainly doomed
When i ended up sick in a surgery room
When the curtains were moved, my then girlfriend could view
Getting my curses removed left a permanent wound
Hypothetically, needed three months for recovery
for the treatment, insurance wouldn’t cover me
spent three months writing letters to the company
out half a year for the process was done with me
Private insurance, hope they never stay involved
If it’s everywhere, costs are shared, Medicare for all
gotta tell yall, ill Stop when im dead
Otherwise, may as well have never left the hospital bed
Anybody could have an accident, or cancer as well
No body should fear calling the ambulance for themselves
No equal opportunity without access to health
Even a sick person deserves the chance to excel
Damn it to hell, cant you feel your neighbors suffering
Are you going to wake up or stay slumbering
Single payer’s successful in many count-r-ies
That’s why i wont enter this election wondering

Who i’m voting for
In my heart i know
What we’ve got in store
We need something more

True, we get older & gain wisdom
I got no patience with the same system
might never see a world without racism
Lets build a movement where they listen
Better listen quite hard while im spittin my bars
In the middle night dark let a little light spark
I feel in my heart like a rhythm might start
As i picture my part at a civil rights march
You could be an EMT, CPA, or be in school
You could be PoC, on EBt, Lgbtq
You could be a decent human, disagree on key issues
Workers need a movement & You’re who I’m speakin to
Me & you, as equals, truly deserve
To see people in our community served
Big business gotta give, thats how unity work
Never ask what the country can do for me first
